Cornerstone Hotel Management Inc., who developed and has owned the Comfort Inn & Suites off of County Highway V in the Town of Vienna since 2006, sold the property to new ownership on Friday, Feb. 16.

With their offices based in DeForest, Cornerstone has deep roots in the village. In addition to the Comfort Inn, the company also developed and owns the nearby Holiday Inn Express.

Cornerstone President Brian Brandstetter said that the company is preparing to open a new Holiday Inn Express this year, and that old location will be reflagged under a different name.

When it came to the decision to sell the Comfort Inn, Brandstetter said the ownership group had a lucrative offer that simply made sense. Nonetheless, he elaborated that the decision came with mixed emotions.

“Very heartfelt, very loyal to the team that’s there,” Brandstetter said, “But I also understand that business is business. I was told never to fall in love with real estate and as hard as that is, I try to keep it in perspective.”

In regard to the future plans for property, that will be up to its new owners, Mayank and Lal Patel, according to Brandstetter. He said that he believes the pair intends to keep the hotel as a Comfort Inn.

“We’re going to miss the people the most... We spent a long time developing clients and getting a reputation for good food and good service,” Brandstetter said, “We hope that continues under their leadership.”
