    Lacrosse: Norski boys fall to Oregon; girls drop pair of matches

    Opening the season with a 14-3 blowout win over Watertown on Monday, April 1, the DeForest girls’ lacrosse team has lost two straight matches.

    Marianna Champagne erupted for five goals and two assists against the Goslings, while teammate Alaina Kerl had a hat trick and an assist for a four-point night. Berlin Ganser finished with two goals for DeForest, and Brenly Schoenemann had a goal. Champagne also racked up 10 groundballs.

    In net, Kaylin Forsythe faced 10 shots on goal and made seven saves.

    On Friday, April 5, the Norskies (1-2 overall) dug a 6-1 hole and never recovered in an 11-5 loss. Olivia Karls led DeForest with a pair of goals, while Ganser, Champagne and Kerl also tallied goals. Melanie Lamberty dished out an assist, while Kerl scooped up a team-high seven groundballs and Schoenemann had five. Forsythe recorded 17 saves.

    Oregon took it to DeForest on Tuesday, April 9, in an 18-2 victory. The halftime score was 12-1.

    Champagne had both of the Norskies’ goals, while also pacing the team in groundballs with seven.

    Forsythe came up with 30 saves.

    Boys

    The Norskies have lost three of their first four matches, the latest defeat coming at the hands of Oregon.

    DeForest led 4-3 at the half, but the Panthers outscored them 4-0 in the second half. No statistics were available for the Norskies, now 1-3 overall.
