DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. (TCN) -- A 31-year-old man has been found guilty of the shooting death of his 28-year-old brother during a dispute over a fan.

DeKalb County District Attorney Sherry Boston announced that a jury convicted Quentin Hill on June 14 of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He is expected to be sentenced in the coming weeks.

According to prosecutors, in the early hours of Dec. 31, 2021, officers responded to a home, where they found Westley Hill on the living room floor with fatal gunshot wounds. Investigators determined Quentin Hill shot his brother before fleeing in his mother's car. A witness heard the gunshots from a bedroom at the time.

The suspect and victim's mother, who was inside the home, reportedly told officials the brothers got into a fight over a fan. The mother said Quentin Hill grabbed a gun, and she "questioned him and told him that it wasn't that serious," prosecutors said.

The mother reportedly told investigators her son put the gun down and went outside. Shortly after he came back inside, the mother allegedly heard gunshots and then Westley Hill's screams. The victim had been shot twice and died from his wounds.

Investigators located the vehicle Quentin Hill had fled in at the house in February 2022. The mother reportedly said her son left the car at another location, and she had been using it, but the defendant was not at the home. The mother did not know Hill's whereabouts.

According to the district attorney's office, Hill eventually turned himself in on March 29, 2022, after his mother urged him to do so.
