2024 State of the Village Dinner
On April 24, 2024 the Elburn Chamber of Commerce hosted its second annual State of the Village Dinner at the Elburn Lions Club. The purpose of this event is to reinforce the vision and mission for Elburn and to provide a unique opportunity for business, community, and school district leaders to come together in support of our community. Mayor Jeff Walter gave an engaging presentation that included Elburn facts, accomplishments from the previous year, budget and finances, key issues and challenges, future planning and for fun a bit of Elburn trivia for prizes.
Kirkland Lions Club sets up extended Fourth of July festivities
ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - On Wednesday, the Kirkland Lions Club begins its four-day festival celebrating American independence. As the early morning weather progressed, the Lions Club began festival setup and accommodations for inclement weather. Wednesday festivities will begin at 4 p.m., featuring carnival fun, flea market deals, pork chop sandwiches and more.

Sandwich City Council to address downtown concerns
Besides beautification efforts in the Sandwich’s downtown, its Mayor Todd Latham has posted two other agenda items following Monday’s 7 p.m. regular city council meeting. In the Committee of the Whole meeting, aldermen will discuss lowering the speed limit to 20 miles per hour on some downtown streets while considering regulating smoking and loitering in front of businesses.
Sandwich City Council switches meeting schedule format
Sandwich Alderman Rich Robinson proposed and heard agreement in changing the order in which Sandwich City Council meetings are held. The change will likely occur in August. Meetings will begin with the committee of the whole followed by the regular council meeting, a reverse from the way Sandwich Mayor Todd Latham brought in when he first took office.
