The 64th annual Southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois (SWANI) Golf Tournament will be held July 6 at Krueger-Haskell Golf Course.

The 18-hole medal play event is open to all male amateurs and is sponsored by the Krueger Men’s Club.

The cost to enter is $40 which does not include greens fees. Players are responsible for their own greens fees. The tournament is divided into flights, depending on the number of entries. The flights are: Championship (0-6 handicap), Class A (7-10), Class B (11-15), Class C (16-20), Class D (21-over). There is a Senior Division for golfers ages 55-and-over.

Pairings will be by flights and there are no pre-arranged foursomes. Trophies will be awarded in each flight.

The entry deadline is June 30 and registration blanks are available at Krueger-Haskell. Starting times will be available at kruegerhaskellgolf.com by July 2.

The rain date will be July 7.

Last year, Paul Koszarek of Milwaukee shot a 71 to edge out Tim Johnson by a single stroke. Ted Pearson was third, also with a 72.

In the A/B Flight, Jaron Bertelsen took home the crown by shooting a 73. Rafael Ramierz and Eric Arnold finished in a tie for second at 75 while Adam Bishop and Chris Harris tied for fourth with a 77.

Scott Huffman won the C Flight with a score of 86. Wayne Young was next with an 88 while Chad Smith and Josh Kroening tied for third by shooting a 90.

Ken Lee dominated the Senior Division with a 71. Steve Ferger took second with a 76 while Edwin Armstrong and Robert Niffeneger both placed third with a 77.

Jerry Hoey once again served as tournament director.

—A Par-3 Scramble Classic 2 Person Team Championship is scheduled for July 7. The competition is in Open Division and Couple Division with the entry fee $30 per team. That does not include green and cart fee.

Plaques and a gift certificate will be awarded to division winners. There will be prizes for closest to the pin and longest putt.

Entry fees are available at the Krueger-Haskell Clubhouse.

—For golfers wanting to plan ahead, the 42nd annual Great SWANI Open Scramble will be Aug. 17 at the Krueger-Haskell Golf Course and Aug. 18 at Riverside Golf Course in Janesville.

The event is a 36-hole, two-man scratch scramble. The entry fee is $50 per team with green fees not included.

To be eligible, each team must have a combined USGA handicap of 12 or more. Professional play to a zero handicap. Photocopies of latest handicaps must accompany entries.

There is no Senior Division. Players 60 or older will play from shorter tees. Both players do not have to be seniors.

Entry forms are available at both golf courses. The field will be limited to the first 76 teams. 100 percent of the entry fees are returned in prizes (less expenses) and redeemed by Dec. 1, 2024 at Riverside Pro Shop.

Entries close Aug. 6. Tee times will be available at kruegerhaskellgolf.com after Aug. 9.
