Head of restaurant association hopes short-term pain from RNC leads to long-term gain
MILWAUKEE – Many restaurants and bars didn’t reap the economic benefits of the Republican National Convention. “There were (restaurants) staffed up, were open, and no one was there,” said Kristine Hillmer, CEO of the Wisconsin Restaurant Association. “They had expenses, labor, supplies, in their facility. But we do know one of the reasons why we wanted the RNC to come here was for future long game.”
Brady Street hit-and-run; Marvin Thomas sentenced, prison
MILWAUKEE - A Milwaukee County judge sentenced Marvin Thomas on Monday, July 22 to two years in prison plus an additional three years of extended supervision in connection with a September 2023 Brady Street hit-and-run crash. The judge also sentenced Thomas to serve nine months in the Milwaukee County Community Reintegration Center.
