A DeLand man was struck and killed early Monday while walking on a Lake County road , the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The 51-year-old man died from injuries suffered in the 5:01 a.m. accident at Lake Mack Drive and Evergreen Drive, troopers said.

He was taken to Advent Health DeLand.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers said a Ford F-150 pickup driven by a 35-year-old man from DeLand was headed north on Lake Mack Drive south of Evergreen Drive when he struck the pedestrian, who was not in a marked crosswalk.

The driver of the Ford F-150 and a 1-year-old boy riding as a passenger were not injured.

    The crash remains under investigation.
