Right in the heart of downtown Milton are two new shops that are guaranteed to satisfy customers’ sweet tooth and show pride in coming from Milton. Sweet Chalet and Scout Milton are two businesses located in the same storefront at 113 Union St., owned and operated by Tyler and Michelle Teed. The Teeds also run Edie Bees Confection Shop in Lewes. Cape Henlopen Elks hold annual Flag Day ceremony
Cape Henlopen Elks Lodge 2540 of Lewes held a combined Flag Day/Americanism ceremony June 15 that included a well-attended luncheon. The outdoor service was held to honor and celebrate the history of the flag of the United States of America, and instill a renewed sense of patriotism. The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks is the first and only fraternal organization to require formal observance of Flag Day.

The Cape major softball all-stars struck first in their July 1 elimination game against Laurel, but they were unable to hold onto the lead, losing 8-3 in Roxana. Whether by Route 9 or Route 24, the two Cape Region teams in the District 3 8-10 all-star tournament, Milton and Lewes, went opposite the beach traffic July 2 to battle one another in Laurel. Second Street in downtown Lewes was closed to traffic early July 4 for the Old-Fashioned Children’s Games as part of Lewes’ Independence Day festivities. Sponsored by the City of Lewes and coordinated by Ron Krajewski, the games have taken place for generations. The coins used for prizes were donated by the Improved Order of Red Men.
Lewes 8-10 baseball all-stars win thriller over Laurel 18-17
Literal and figurative fireworks showered the grass and dirt of Laurel Little League July 3, as Lewes and Laurel locked horns and teeth in an epic elimination game. Jumping out to a 7-2 lead in the first inning, the Lewes 8-10 baseball all-stars continued to tack on runs to make it 15-5 with two outs in the bottom of the fourth. One more out and the game would have been over, but Laurel staged a nine-run, two-out rally to get within one at 15-14. Tied 16-16 in the bottom of the fifth, Brody Fazio came up big for his teammates and drove in two runs to provide the security needed for an 18-17 victory.
