There was plenty of playoff action Friday afternoon in the Bayside South, as baseball, softball and lacrosse squads looked to keep their seasons alive and advance to the next round. And some did, while others fell just short after making deep playoff runs.

Three Bayside South baseball teams, two softball teams and one lacrosse team played on Friday, in games that varied from close nail-bitters to dominant blowout victories. Two of those teams were able to keep their hopes of winning a state title alive.

Here are how the Bayside South teams that were in action fared on Friday:

The Stephen Decatur Seahawks are headed back to the Class 3A State Semifinals for the second year in a row, as they defeated Northern 3-0 at home Friday afternoon. The first three innings were scoreless for both teams, but Decatur would break things open in the fourth, with the Seahawks scoring first on a Johnny Hobgood sacrifice fly, followed by an RBI base hit from Caden Shockley. Lukas Loring pitched a complete game shutout, leading the Seahawks back to the 3A Final Four.

Decatur will face Chesapeake in the 3A Semifinals on Tuesday.

In the Class 2A quarterfinals, the defending state champion Parkside Rams fell to Middletown, losing 6-0 and ending Parkside's bid to repeat as state champions. And in Class 1A, Mardela lost a heartbreaker to Colonel Richardson, losing 3-2 on a walk-off.

The Mardela Warriors are also making another trip to the state semifinals, as they defeated Bohemia Manor 10-0 at home on Friday in the Class 1A State Quarterfinals. The Warriors are still undefeated, and are now just two wins away from achieving a perfect season. The Warriors will face Allegany in the 1A Semifinals on Tuesday.

The Stephen Decatur Seahawks fell on the road to Huntingtown 11-1, bringing another stellar season for the Seahawks to a close.

The Stephen Decatur girls lacrosse team were the final Bayside South lacrosse team standing in the MPSSAA State Semifinals. And on Friday night they faced a familiar foe for the third time this season with a spot in the Class 2A State Championship Game on the line.

Facing the Queen Anne's Lions, who recently bested the Seahawks in the Bayside Championship Game, Decatur lost another close one to the Lions, 6-4. A season that saw Decatur grab a regional title and saw them make it to the state semifinals for the first time since 2019 officially comes to a close.
