We Finally Know What’s Set to Replace Fricano’s in Alamo Township
And the best part is we won't have to wait very long. After only closing its doors in June locals have noticed some new signage at the former Fricano's restaurant in Alamo Township. Located just north of Kalamazoo, MI family-owned pizzeria Fricano's closed earlier this year when owner Phil Fricano...
Duff Beer in Michigan? Maybe The Simpsons Lived Here After All
This could be the missing link. For nearly 35 years America's favorite yellow family has made their home in the town of Springfield. However, exactly which of the 67 populated places in the U.S. named Springfield is the show referring to?. We do not know. Unfortunately, one of the longest-running...
Following the Accidentals to the Fair Ground Festival
We’re heading south this weekend for the second Fair Ground Festival in Hastings, Michigan. It’s hard to draw us downstate at this time of year, but there will be some familiar NoMi faces on the stage. Local favorites The Accidentals will perform on Saturday, July 27, along with a slate of impressive artists including The War and Treaty (nominated for Best New Artist at the 2024 Grammys), Hannah Wicklund, BAILEN, The Rebel Eves, and Alanna Royale. There’s even a pre-party on Friday night with bonus musical guests! The show will go on at the Barry Expo Center, 1350 M-37 Hwy, in Hastings. Get tickets ($50 for general admission; $200 for VIP; plus $30 per night for those who want to camp on-site) at mynorthtickets.com/events/the-fair-ground-festival-2024-7-27-2024.
Southwest Michigan City Has All You Can Eat Sushi Coming Soon
Sushi is one of those foods that I would consider to be niche based on the drastic difference in reaction to the dish being brought up in conversation. Those that enjoy sushi practically fall out in excitement trying to tell you about their favorite place and roll while those who aren't fans of the dish often gag in disapproval and exclaim their disdain for sushi.

Harvey’s on the Mall
I’ve been writing this blog a long time. 15 years. My kids get so annoyed when I take pictures at restaurants but I keep doing it because, as I’ve said all along, this blog is pretty much a journal. I don’t care if anyone reads. I don’t make any money off it. But I do go back and read posts all the time. Even though I’m somewhat vague with my stories, they all jog a memory for me.
Do you really have to wait to go swimming after eating?
Did your parents warn you against jumping in the pool right after eating? They were misguided. In most cases, there’s no need to wait at least 30 minutes after eating to go for a swim, doctors say. That old warning stems from worry that people might drown or struggle...
