    UPDATE (Aug. 28, 2024): The missing 7-year-old boy whose disappearance on Tuesday sparked an AMBER Alert has been located unharmed, Rochester police announced early Wednesday morning.

    The boy - Akelise Johnson - was found unharmed inside a home within the City of Rochester around midnight, said Lt. Nicholas Adams of the Rochester Police Department. Further details on the circumstances were not immediately released.

    Rochester Police Capt. Greg Bello on Wednesday morning said that officers are investigating and no charges have been filed in connection with the incident.

    "Due to the circumstances of this situation and to protect the privacy of the child, I cannot release any additional information," he said. "Thankfully, the child is unharmed and in a safe place."

    New York State Police, the FBI and Child Protective Services all assisted with the search, and are helping with the investigation.

    ORIGINAL STORY (Aug. 27, 2024): The Rochester Police Department has issued a New York State AMBER Alert following the abduction of a child near 189 N. Water St., Rochester, NY, around 11 a.m. on Aug. 27.

    • Description: Black male, approximately 7 years old, 4 feet 6 inches tall, 60 pounds, with bald black hair and brown eyes.
    • Last Seen Wearing: Gray t-shirt, colorful shorts, white squared glasses.

    AMBER Alert: What to know about the suspect police are looking for in connection with abducted boy

    • Name: Celeta Johnson
    • Description: Black female, approximately 35 years old, 5 feet 7 inches tall, 170 pounds, with short black hair and brown eyes.
    • Last Seen Wearing: Dark-colored wig in a bob hairstyle, white t-shirt, long dark pants, and a gold chain piercing from her ear to nose.
    • Other: Police said that Celeta Johnson is the mother of Akelise Johnson.

    The suspect was last seen traveling on North Water Street, possibly heading towards Trust Street. The child is believed to be in imminent danger of serious harm or death.
