There are thousands, if not millions, of Disney fans who would gladly visit the Disney Parks every day of their lives if they could... but only a very small handful of them actually have the means to do so. Even if you lived right up the street from Disneyland and had an unlimited annual pass, it's just not feasible to always be at the parks. The obvious solution, then, is to build Disneyland at home.

Sounds like a joke, right? Well, Travis Larson isn't kidding around. This dedicated Disney fan has spent years transforming his basement into a miniature recreation of Disneyland, and his intense attention to detail is nothing short of jaw-dropping.

Larson's neighbor Liz (aka @chimchimchurro ) got to tour Larson's incredible passion project, and the video is absolutely fascinating. Crafty creatives can pull off amazing DIY dupes of designer furniture and vintage decor, but it's not often that somebody creates a convincing DIY dupe of a famous theme park - in their basement, no less!

Though Larson's basement isn't an exact recreation of Disneyland (I think building roller coasters in the basement would be considered a code violation somehow), there are a lot of familiar locales down here. As Liz points out, Larson recreated the facades of Snow White's Scary Adventure, the Village Haus restaurant, and Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, all of which can be found in the Fantasyland area of Disneyland (though the Snow White ride has since been renamed Snow White's Enchanted Wish ).

Larson's attention to detail is on par with that of actual Disney Imagineers . He has the Fantasyland music looping through his basement, and everything in there is a handmade recreation, down to the trash cans. According to Liz, there's even a few hidden Mickeys down there, though I confess I couldn't spot any of them myself. Did you find any?

    Travis Larson's Passion Project

Rome wasn't built in a day, and Travis Larson's Disneyland basement wasn't either. Larson, a former railroad conductor and resident of Riverside, Utah, recently told Salt Lake City's FOX 13 News that he's slowly built his Disneyland basement over the past 12 years , working on it when he could find time in his busy work schedule.

Larson originally just wanted to create a unique themed entertainment space for his family and friends, and he wasn't originally locked in on the Disney idea. He mulled over a lot of themes before finally realizing his path forward after a few trips to Disneyland Anaheim .

"I liked Disneyland a lot, the way they do their styles," Larson told FOX 13 News . "Their aesthetic is just unique, and I really liked the fantasy, German-esque feel, if you will. So that's kind of how I landed upon this theme."

Despite his uncannily accurate craftsmanship and more than a decade's worth of labor, Larson estimates that he's only spent a bit over $5,000 on his 2,200-square-foot Disneyland recreation. And even though the attention to detail is spectacular, this basement isn't just a theme park replica. Behind the doors of the basement's facades lie actual rooms, including Larson's workshop and his daughter Alyse's bedroom. Oh, and in case you're wondering, yes, the basement can switch from day mode to night mode too.

The basement still isn't done quite yet. As Liz noted earlier, Larson still wants to add some greenery, and Larson also told FOX 13 News that there's some painting left to complete. But even without the final finishing touches, Larson's passion project is a masterwork in DIY craftsmanship, and a testament to the devotion of serious Disney fans. I wonder if Larson would ever take the next step and apply to become an official Imagineer...
