Tuscora Park Holds “Name the Train” Contest
Community members have the chance to name the new train at Tuscora Park. The New Philadelphia Rotary Club is accepting entries for its “Name the Train” contest through Thursday and will announce the winner the following Sunday July 28th. Not only does the winner get to name the new locomotive ride, that person also gets a prize package with gifts, VIP passes, a name plaque and a photo opportunity.
Inaugural Ohio Trails Gathering at Camp Tuscazoar
An event to celebrate non-motorized trails will be held this Saturday. The inaugural Ohio Trails Gathering will be at Camp Tuscazoar, from 10am to 4pm, with representatives on hand from the camp foundation, the American Canoe Association, the Ohio Horseman’s Council, the Ohio Mountain Bike Alliance and the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy.
Dover reaches settlement with property owner near bridge project
DOVER (WJER) (July 19, 2024) – The city and a homeowner have finally agreed to a settlement involving a bridge reconstruction project that has been on hold for years. City officials have been discussing replacing the low-level bridge over East 20th Street near Dover Middle School since before ODOT awarded a $602,000 grant for the project in 2020. Three neighboring property owners reached eminent domain agreements with the city for small portions of their property, but a fourth has been holding out. The ensuing court case has been ongoing since 2022.
