Zoo should have disclosed Rainforest closure to those buying annual passes
The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo has announced an overhaul to its beloved Rainforest into a new Primate Forest, and its closure until 2026 (”Cleveland Metroparks Zoo announces shutdown date for RainForest,” cleveland.com, Aug. 15). This is exciting news to employees, patrons of the Zoo, and area residents. While exciting, it also means patrons will have limited access during the winter months -- a time when families with young children look forward to indoor activities such as the Rainforest.
Administrators address loss of middle school teacher
Hudson City School District was set to get the 2024-2025 school year underway with excitement and “some sadness,” according to Superintendent Dana Addis. The sadness related to the loss of eighth-grade teacher Deborah Mancuso who died on Aug. 8. She had taught science at Hudson Middle School for 20 years.
