Pearson named GPAC Athletic Trainer Of The Year
CRETE, NEB. - Doane University is getting some recognition in the first ever GPAC Athletic Trainer of the Year award. Doane Athletic Trainer Ethan Pearson has won the honor, becoming the initial recipient. Pearson is Director of Sports Medicine at Doane, a position he took over in July 2019. He has served as an Athletic Trainer for the Tigers since August 2016.
Huskers Athletic Fund and Ticketing Relocation; Statue Relocation
With construction on the Osborne Legacy Complex nearing completion, Nebraska Athletics would like fans to be aware of some changes in locations around Memorial Stadium. The Huskers Athletic Fund and Athletic Ticket Offices previously located in the Stadium Drive Parking Garage have moved to West Stadium, in spaces previously occupied by Academics and Life Skills. The HAF and Ticket Offices completed the transition to the West Stadium earlier this week.
Husker football commit earns fourth recruiting star
A Nebraska football commit has earned a fourth recruiting star. Shawn Hammerbeck is a 6-foot-6, 260-pound offensive lineman for Winner High School in Winner, SD. Hammerbeck earned his extra star from the recruiting service 247Sports. The remaining recruiting services rate South Dakota’s top 2025 prospect three stars. Reports suggest the Huskers may play the recruit on the offensive line as a tackle, although he has been identified as a possible candidate on the defensive line. Hammerbeck selected the Huskers over Kansas State, Minnesota, and Texas Tech. Nebraska first offered the recruit in the spring and hosted him on an official visit in April. He returned on an official visit in June before committing to the Cornhuskers on July 3rd. Nebraska offers 2026 wide receiver
The Nebraska Cornhuskers have offered a scholarship to a top player in the class of 2026. Xavier McDonald is a four-star wide receiver from Morton High School in Morton, MS. Last season, as a sophomore, he appeared in 11 varsity football games. McDonald made 56 receptions for 1,166 yards and 16 touchdowns. The wideout has been a popular name on the recruiting trail. Nebraska is the 15th scholarship offer, with McDonald already holding offers from Auburn, LSU, and Ole Miss. The SEC appears to be a front-runner for his commitment. According to On3’s Recruitment Prediction Machine, Auburn is the early leader. The Huskers do not hold any commitments to the class of 2026 but have extended numerous offers in the past week. Nebraska Countdown to Kickoff: No. 45 RB Izaac Dickey
Just 45 days remain until kickoff of Nebraska football program’s 125th season. In the player spotlight with officially a month and a half to go before August 31 is Nebraska freshman running back Izaac Dickey. The 5-foot-10, 210-pound Dickey walked-on to the Huskers this offseason after officially committing to the program last June. Dickey is a native of Stromsburg, Nebraska and had a terrific career at Cross County High School where he was a three-year starter at fullback for the Cougars. During his high school career, Dickey totaled nearly 1,800 rushing yards and 40 touchdowns. He was also a standout on defense with over 200 career tackles. With the Huskers, Dickey will be a valuable depth piece in the backfield. Nebraska football moves Brook Berringer statue to new home at Memorial Stadium
LINCOLN — The popular Brook Berringer/Tom Osborne statue at Memorial Stadium has a new home in front of Nebraska football's new football building. The bronze statue, sculpted by Fred Hoppe, had been located in front of the North Stadium entrance since its unveiling in 2006. It features legendary coach Tom Osborne pointing to a field with one hand while the other rests on the shoulder of Berringer, a former Nebraska quarterback who helped NU win the 1994 and 1995 national titles before dying in April 1996 in a small plane crash.
