LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — If you saw a big white balloon in the sky on Wednesday, you’re not alone. Several Channel 8 viewers reported seeing the object in the Lincoln area. Late in the afternoon, a balloon was sitting in the air near Waverly for several hours, according to flightradar24.com.
Madison man sentenced for involvement in fentanyl distribution conspiracy
LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - A Madison man was sentenced Wednesday for his involvement in a fentanyl distribution conspiracy. District Court Judge Brian Buescher sentenced Jason Penalbert, 37, to more than 4 years imprisonment for conspiring to distribute 400 grams or more of fentanyl. Once Penalbert is released from prison, he will begin a two-year term of supervised release.

One person dead after train, van crash near Kearney
KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - A man is dead after a van-train crash near Kearney on Thursday. The Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened around 12:30 p.m. According to a preliminary investigation, a van was traveling westbound on US Highway 30 east of Cherry Avenue just outside the Kearney city limits. The sheriff’s office said during that time, a Union Pacific train was backing up on a track that crosses the highway and collided with the van.
Lexington man accused of trying to slit man’s throat charged with attempted murder
LEXINGTON, Neb. (KNOP) - A Lexington man was charged with attempted murder after allegedly trying to slit a man’s throat. Eber Gamolier, 20, was arraigned Wednesday on two felony charges: attempted murder and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony. A judge set his bond at 10% of $200,000.
First-ever casino in Omaha city limits just weeks from opening

New GICC elementary school ready to welcome students
GRAND ISLAND, Neb. – The new Catholic elementary school in Grand Island is one month away from opening its doors and everything is set for the school year. “We were not expecting that much.
