    If the boot fits: Braswell teacher uses West Texas childhood to tell story for kids

    For a Braswell High School English teacher, the story of Cinderella was ripe for a West Texas makeover.

    Amanda Vingren, an Advanced Placement and dual-credit English teacher at Denton ISD’s Braswell High School, plucks one of the most famous princesses from European lore and plops her onto a West Texas cattle ranch. She swaps glass slippers for a pair of boots and magic mice for some armadillos. Instead of Prince Charming, there’s a sweet-natured veterinarian. And the Fairy Godmother finds her way to the great big Texas prairie.
