Shannon Sharpe had an impressive NFL career with the Denver Broncos, which included three Super Bowl titles and eight trips to the Pro Bowl.

However, Sharpe shared a frightening story about the reason he refuses to sleep over at women's houses anymore. During an episode of Funky Friday , Sharpe shared some of the stories with Cam Newton, and they are something else.

Here's one story Sharpe shared that took place right after he was drafted by the Broncos.

"Cam, something told me, ‘Boy, keep your clothes on.’ So, I got on shorts and I got on a T-shirt. Man, have you ever had sleep paralysis? You can hear things, but you can’t move...I can hear, and it’s getting louder, it’s getting louder, and they’re arguing. So, by this time—boom! The door flies off the hinges...So, I’m jumping up like, ‘Hey what’s up, boy, what’s it about to be?’ I said, ‘Oh lord, he’s got some bodies on his resume.’ Yeah, I’m talking about those kind of bodies.'"

Thankfully, the man was a fan of Shannon Sharpe and was upset at the woman involved.

Sharpe shared another story , and this one is even more frightening. This one was in 1993 when Sharpe went back home to Savannah State for homecoming (h/t Ryan Gaydos of Fox News):

"I set my stuff down. And I’m looking at the door handle, it’s turning…Dude come in. He got that [AK-47]. Oh lord, have mercy. I said, ‘Lord.’ And he look at me, and he said, ‘My man.’ I said, ‘Yeah.’ He’s about to ask me if I’m Sharpe. I said, ‘Yeah.’ He said, ‘I thought so.’"

After that happened, Sharpe continued: "I said, ‘Man, my bad. You saved me.’ Because if I had not been [interrupted], I ain’t telling this story right now."

Sharpe's career was magnificent and he even has a spot in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but things could've turned out differently based on these scary incidents.

After all of that, Shannon Sharpe revealed one big thing: "I have not closed my eyes at another woman’s house in 31 years."
