As July 4th approaches, Mother Nature might bring one last round of her fireworks around metro Denver on Tuesday.

Denver residents can expect a slight chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 9 a.m., as a cold front pushes through mid-morning, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.

It'll be mostly sunny with a high near 86 and northeast winds blowing between 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

"A few thunderstorms are possible across Lincoln county this afternoon, otherwise, drier conditions are expected across the region with highs in the mid 80s," the NWS said.

Tonight we'll see a 10% chance of showers and thunderstorms before midnight, with mostly clear skies and a low around 61. North winds between 5 to 7 mph will blow, becoming light and variable overnight.

Here is the rest of the week’s forecast from the National Weather Service:

Wednesday: A 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Sunny, with a high near 90. Light and variable wind becoming west northwest 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon.
