The left-field foul pole didn't stand a chance Tuesday.

Rockies center fielder Brenton Doyle rattled the netting of it and doubled later to deliver for the Rockies but his bullpen didn’t hold the lead in a 4-3 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers. A win would’ve inched them closer to clinching their first series win since May 27-29 against the Cleveland Guardians but relievers Nick Mears and Justin Lawrence contributed to allow a decisive two-run ninth inning. It was the Rockies' seventh blown lead in the ninth inning this year.

The losing effort followed the longest two-day stretch of extra-innings games for any club in the majors this year.

Doyle has three home runs in the last two games and set his season-high with 10 bases in Monday's win after a standout defensive effort in Sunday's over the Chicago White Sox.

Left fielder Nolan Jones helped his center fielder keep the game tied in the seventh with his third outfield assist since coming off the injured list. He set the franchise's record with 19 last year, and it left opponents more cautious, and him with fewer opportunities.

He has the two hardest-thrown outfield assists in the majors this season, each in the last two games.

It backed Rockies pitcher Ryan Feltner's best start since May with five one-run innings.

    Brewers 4, Rockies 3

What happened: Brenton Doyle's third home run in two days delivered the foul pole netting a jolt and the Rockies a lead before the bullpen combo of Nick Mears and Justin Lawrence walked and hit the Brewers into two go-ahead runs.

On the mound: Mears issued two walks and allowed two hits alongside Lawrence who hit Rhys Hoskins with the bases loaded to allow the second and go-ahead runs. Ryan Feltner threw five innings and allowed one earned one on six hits. He struck out three in his best start since May 23 against Oakland. Pitcher Ty Blach added two one-run innings.

At the plate: Doyle rattled the left-field foul pole's netting in the second inning with his third home run in the last two games. He tied his season total from last year (10). He hit an eighth-inning double to drive in the go-ahead run for his 22nd multi-hit game this season. Elias Díaz also had multiple hits for the quiet Rockies who made their seven hits count alongside their six walks and nine strikeouts.

What’s next: Milwaukee Brewers (RHP Colin Rea, 7-2; 3.61) at Colorado Rockies (RHP Dakota Hudson, 2-11; 5.84) on Wednesday at 6:40 p.m. at Coors Field.
