    Denver weather: Sunny, warm in metro with afternoon storms in plains

    DENVER ( KDVR ) — Colorado will enjoy mainly sunny skies on Wednesday with just above-average highs in the lower 90s with afternoon storms in the plains in the Denver weather forecast.

    Weather today: Sunny with hotter temperatures

    Mainly sunny skies will be along the Front Range on Wednesday with warm highs around the 90-degree mark. Winds will pick up in the late afternoon for the metro area.

    There is a slight risk for severe storms along the plains Wednesday

    Storms will fire up in the early afternoon and push quickly to the east. That area could see large hail and isolated tornadoes as the storms exit the state.

    The weekend begins with a mix of sun and clouds and warmer highs that hit the 90-degree mark.

    Sunday will be partly cloudy with highs in the low 90s and the chance for some afternoon showers and storms.

    Monday starts the next week with mild highs in the middle 80s and partly cloudy skies. Tuesday keeps the extra clouds, but highs are back in the lower 90s.
