Driver arrested in deadly hit-and-run crash in Denver

DENVER ( KDVR ) — A woman was killed in a Denver hit-and-run crash early Thursday morning.

Just after midnight, the Denver Police Department reported a pedestrian was hit by a driver near Speer Boulevard and Colfax Avenue between the Lincoln Park and Auraria neighborhoods.

The victim was taken to a local hospital. Nine hours later, police said the victim was identified as an adult woman who was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Officers were able to locate the driver after they fled the scene. Denver police said the suspect was arrested for investigation of vehicular homicide and fleeing the scene of the crash.

The investigation is ongoing, and police have not said what factors may have led to the crash. The identity of the woman will be released at a later date.
