DENVER ( KDVR ) — A deadly crash involving a pedestrian and driver closed southbound Interstate 225 Tuesday morning.

At this time, it is unclear why the pedestrian was near the interstate, but officers are in the early stages of this investigation and will release more information as it becomes available.

Southbound I-225 was closed at Yosemite Street near the Cherry Creek Reservoir. A traffic camera from the Colorado Department of Transportation showed a big backup on I-225 at 5 a.m.

About two hours later, CDOT said I-225 reopened and traffic was moving once again.

FOX31’s Jim Hooley is at the scene to learn more about the crash.
