NFL analyst already declares Bo Nix winner of Denver Broncos' QB competition

While rookies for the Denver Broncos have reported to training camp and the rest of the roster does not report until July 24, one member of the NFL media feels that the winner of the team's quarterback competition is obvious.

NFL Network ran a segment detailing the Broncos' quarterback situation and where Bo Nix fits into the team's plans as a rookie. Omar Ruiz gave his thoughts to Tom Pelissero but when asked what would happen if Nix is not the guy this year, Bucky Brooks did not hesitate to announce that Nix will be the team's starter .

"Oh look, he's going to be the starting quarterback for the Broncos, barring injury, said Brooks confidently.

Nix will compete with Jarrett Stidham and Zach Wilson in training camp and would be the Broncos' first rookie to start in Week 1 since John Elway in 1983 . As rare as it is for this team to do that, it does feel like Stidham and Wilson are competing for the backup job.

Bo Nix looks poised to start 2024 as Broncos' starter

It would probably be a surprise if Nix is not the starter when the season opens. There is a good argument that if the team is not going to be very good and the coaching staff knows the QB will take some lumps, it might be better to let either Stidham or Wilson take some of those.

But Sean Payton will likely want to get Nix on the field early and see what he has. Any success or failure that Payton has with the Broncos from this point on could and likely will be tied to his selection of Nix.

Those factors give Nix the edge, even as a rookie, to win the job. Bucky Brooks has virtually guaranteed it.
