The Denver Broncos offense is going to look much different in 2024 than it has in recent seasons. Head coach Sean Payton has his quarterback after selecting Bo Nix in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Nix will be competing with former No. 2 overall pick Zach Wilson and Jarrett Stidham for the starting job in training camp. At some point, it is expected that he will take over as the starter.

On Thursday, a bit of good news was provided for whoever is the starting quarterback. The Denver Broncos’ No. 1 receiver, Courtland Sutton, has had his contract issues resolved.

The two sides agreed to a restructuring that will add $1.5 million worth of incentives to his deal. NFL insider Adam Schefter of ESPN shared the report, as Sutton has two years remaining on his contract.

Before the restructure, Sutton was set to earn $13.5 million in base salary this season with a $500,000 roster bonus. An adjustment is something that he has been looking for all offseason, but he still reported to training camp on time.

Last season, Sutton led the Denver Broncos with 59 receptions, 772 yards and 10 touchdowns. He is the unquestioned No. 1 receiver heading into the season with Jerry Jeudy being traded to the Cleveland Browns.

Entering his seventh season in Denver, Sutton was originally selected in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft out of SMU. In the 2019 season, he set career highs with 72 receptions and 1,112 yards, adding six touchdowns.

That was enough for him to earn his first, and to this point, only Pro Bowl trip of his career. Unfortunately, a devastating knee injury in 2020 derailed his ascension.

Signed through the 2025 season, this should quiet down all of the trade rumors that were surrounding him at points during the offseason. His contract situation is no longer a distraction, as he and the Denver Broncos can now focus solely on football.

Sutton will be joined atop the team’s depth chart this season by second-year player Marvin Mims, veteran Josh Reynolds and rookie fourth-round pick Troy Franklin. Veteran Tim Patrick is another player who had his emergence derailed by injuries as he hasn’t played since the 2021 season.
