Denver Broncos position preview: Defensive line depth chart in training camp

The Denver Broncos have opened training camp and the team already has several bright spots. Greg Dulcich is available and looking sharp, Javonte Williams looks great after shedding weight and Courtland Sutton has a new deal .

Naturally, the eyes of those at training camp will be honed in on the quarterback position, but as we continue our position previews, the defensive line might be the most-improved group since the 2023 season ended.

The Broncos did not make any blockbuster moves here, but they signed some veteran depth to bolster the unit and add valuable experience heading into the season. The Broncos will have a lot of competition here and plenty to watch in camp.

Since the Broncos run a 3-4 defensive scheme, this will only include defensive linemen. Edge rushers will appear in a separate position later in the series.

Starters

Zach Allen, D.J. Jones, John Franklin-Myers

This seems pretty straightforward as Zach Allen was one of the team's best players last year and John Franklin-Myers was one of the more underrated moves any team made this offseason. There are questions about D.J. Jones and it is still a bit of a surprise that the Broncos chose to keep him this offseason, rather than saving nearly $10 million in cap space by releasing him.

Second-String

Malcolm Roach, Angelo Blackson, Matt Henningsen

Malcolm Roach should be expected to push Jones for playing time and could even become a starter. In my 53-man roster prediction , a roster spot comes down to either Angelo Blackson or Matt Henningsen.

Third-String

Elijah Garcia, Jordan Jackson, Jordan Miller, Brandon Matterson

Elijah Garcia had a good summer for the team last season but the Broncos didn't use him much in the regular season. He appeared in three games for the team. Jordan Miller and Brandon Matterson are undrafted free agents looking for a path to the roster. Their best bet will likely be to start on the practice squad.
