DENVER ( KDVR ) — “When the Sun Goes Down” on Saturday, chart-topping country singer Kenny Chesney will hit the stage at Empower Field at Mile High for a record sixth time.

Chesney is bringing his “Sun Goes Down 2024 Tour” to the Mile High City alongside Zac Brown Band, Megan Maroney and Uncle Kracker, and Empower Field expects Denver will be busy with traffic.

Saturday’s show will be Chesney’s sixth time performing at Empower Field at Mile High — the most of any performer in stadium history. Here is what you need to know if you are going or if you want to avoid the crowds.

    Public transportation options

The Regional Transportation District is prepared to support an increase in riders on Saturday as Empower Field is conveniently located near several bus stops and rail stations.

If you want to forego the parking process, RTD recommends using public transit and downloading RTD’s Next Ride app to plan your trip. By inputting “Kenny Chesney” into the app, a planner will show you all the available transit in real time.

    Rail service

Before and after the concert, RTD said the D, E, H and W lines, which directly serve Empower Field, and A, B, G and N lines which provide service to Denver Union Station will run regularly.

These are the last light rail trains that will leave from Empower Field:

    • D Line: 1:54 a.m.
    • E Line: 2:00 a.m.
    • H Line: 1:30 a.m.
    • W Line: 1:57 a.m.

These are the last rail lines that will leave from Union Station:

    • D Line: 1:49 a.m.
    • E Line: 1:55 a.m.
    • H Line: 1:25 a.m.
    • W Line: 1:52 a.m.

    Bus service

There will also be several buses that will take concertgoers to and from Empower Field.

Things to do: Cattle drive, Kenny Chesney, music festival

According to RTD, the buses that will operate in the area of Empower Field include Route 30 (South Federal Boulevard) and Route 31 (North Federal Boulevard). Additionally, the 1, 15L, 16 and 31 all serve the nearby Decatur-Federal Station.

RTD also offers plenty of Park-n-Ride parking lots for easy access to public transit.

    Empower Field rules

Before you rock out with the eight-time Entertainer of the Year winner, be sure to follow Empower Field’s rules.

The stadium said a clear bag policy will be in effect for this show. This means guests cannot bring any clear bags larger than 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches.

These items are also permitted inside the stadium, according to Empower Field:

    • One foam seat cushion that is under 18 inches
    • Food of any kind that is contained in an approved clear bag
    • Unfrozen non-alcoholic beverages in a factory-sealed bottle
    • Small, collapsible umbrellas

    Weather

You may want to pack that small umbrella because there is a chance for afternoon storms on Saturday.

According to the Pinpoint Weather team, Saturday will have mainly sunny skies with highs in the lower 90s. But there are some small chances for afternoon storms — about a 30% chance.

Be sure to keep up with the latest forecast and updates with the Pinpoint Weather team.

There are still tickets available for purchase on Ticketmaster.
