    Blues concert in Denver raises funds to benefit musicians in need

    DENVER (KDVR) — A blues concert in Denver on Sunday will give attendees a meal and a show while benefitting music professionals in need.

    The concert will raise funds for MusiCares , a nonprofit organization that helps musicians across the country with a variety of needs , from mental and physical health, rehabilitation services, support and financial help for other needs.

    The benefit, presented by Blue Roots Denver and CMDance, is being held at the Denver Turnverein, located at 1570 N. Clarkson St., from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

    Attendees will get a meal to go with an acoustic blues set and a full band set. Plus, there will be a dance area for attendees to move and groove to the music. There will also be a silent auction and other activities.

    Jazz artist James Speiser told FOX31 that the nonprofit helped him pay for surgery.

    “They helped me pay for some surgery, one time I got hurt when I didn’t have insurance,” Speiser said.

    Tickets range from $20 to $50 . According to a press release, 70% of all proceeds will go directly to MusiCares.
