DENVER ( KDVR ) — July hit over 100 degrees on multiple days, but even with the record-breaking temperatures, this July doesn’t land anywhere significant in history.

July 2024 broke several records, some of which had been held for over 100 years.

July recorded multiple 100-degree days, which doesn’t always happen in Denver during the entire summer. Denver broke the heat record on July 12 at 102 degrees and on July 14 at 101 degrees , which were records set around 50 to 100 years ago.

These are historically the hottest days in Denver

Even with the record-breaking heat, it turns out it wasn’t all that hot in Denver compared to previous years.

According to National Weather Service records, the average temperature in Denver for July is 75 degrees. This year, the average totaled 75.7 degrees. In short, Denver was right on average.

While it might’ve felt sweltering in July, Pinpoint Weather Meteorologist Travis Michels said this is because July is always hot in Denver. After all, the historically hottest temperatures of the year for the Mile High City land right in the middle of July.

Michels said for it to be a record-breaking month in July, the temperatures have to be insanely hotter.

As for August, Michels said the temperatures will still be hot and in the 80s to 90s, but it will cool down compared to July.
