Bo Nix is making a solid case to be QB1 for the Denver Broncos’ upcoming season, as the emerging rookie has shown out in training camp thus far.

“He’s done better on the field, performance-wise. But also, there were a couple of tells in the training camp practice today,” Broncos reporter Mike Klis said on his “ Klis Kave ” show on Friday.

He noted that Nix was the only quarterback participating in some move-the-ball drills and walk-throughs. Moreover, there was an instance when the team needed a few yards with 13 seconds left before stopping the clock.

“Bo Nix was the only quarterback who did that,” Kils said.

“Why would they only use Bo if he wasn’t going to be the guy?”

During a move-the-ball drill, Nix had around 16-17 plays – compared to Jarrett Stidham’s estimated four to five and Zach Wilson, who didn’t get any – Kils reported.

Kils and others believe coach Sean Payton is prepping Nix for their season opener on Sept. 8 against the Seattle Seahawks.

Teammate and safety P.J. Locke is one of those individuals taken aback by his performances thus far.

“What I notice from Bo is he’s a good look-off guy,” Locke told reporters on Thursday.

“He’s really good looking off. Even in OTAs, I was like, ‘Man I just cannot get a bead off of him.’ Because most time, rookie quarterbacks, their first read they’re going to look at it, and he’ll look you off real quick.”

Locke, entering his fifth NFL season, has a keen eye for quarterbacks as he’s played with six different starters for the Broncos in that time frame.

“I think he studies the safeties and he can tell we’re super instinctive and we try to play games with him,” Locke said. “So he try to play games back, so that’s what I noticed off-rip. And he can throw the pill. He can throw it.”
