Denver Broncos Reveal Shocking News On Rookie QB Bo Nix

The Denver Broncos are clearly in no rush to start rookie quarterback Bo Nix. As a matter of fact, he may not even be the primary backup.

The Broncos have released their depth chart for the 2024 season, and Nix was listed as the team’s No. 3 quarterback behind Jarrett Stidham and Zach Wilson.

Of course, this isn’t set in stone. Things could still change between now and Week 1, but it’s looking more and more like Sean Payton and Co. are going to ease Nix into action.

It seems hard to believe that Nix won’t see the field at all in 2024, so it’s entirely possible that Stidham remains under center for the first half of the year before giving way to Nix later on. It also depends on how well (or poorly) Stidham plays.

Denver selected Nix with the 12th overall pick of the NFL Draft back in April, making him the last signal-caller taken in the first round.

The University of Oregon product threw for 4,508 yards, 45 touchdowns and three interceptions while completing 77.4 percent of his passes in 2023. He also rushed for 234 yards and six scores.

Nix actually began his collegiate career at Auburn in 2019 and spent three seasons there before transferring to Oregon in 2022. He totaled 3,593 yards, 29 touchdowns and seven picks while adding 510 yards and 14 scored on the ground during his debut campaign with the Ducks.

Will the Broncos be competitive in 2024?

The Broncos could very well be one of the worst teams in the NFL this season.

Last year, Denver ranked near the bottom of the league in both offense and defense, and it’s difficult to envision that changing a whole lot in 2024.

The Broncos do carry the benefit of playing in a poor division. Outside of the Kansas City Chiefs, the AFC West is pretty brutal, with neither the Las Vegas Raiders or Los Angeles Chargers looking all that threatening (especially with Justin Herbert’s injury in Los Angeles).

Still, given the lack of overall talent on Denver’s roster, this is still a team that may struggle to win more than five games this coming season.

Yes, the Broncos did manage to go 8-9 in 2023, but remember: Russell Wilson actually did provide some very capable quarterback play last year.

Denver should be in the running for a top draft pick in 2025.
