1 person dies after Fort Collins house fire Friday: Poudre Fire Authority

One person was confirmed dead by Poudre Fire Authority as firefighters worked to put out the flames at a house near the intersection of S Timberline Road and Caribou Drive Friday morning.

The Poudre Fire Authority said crews arrived at the home around 5:50 a.m. Friday and saw smoke and flames coming from two sides of the building.

Gemstone Lanea was closed between Stone Creek Drive and Summerstone Court for hours Friday morning so firefighters could extinguish the flames and conduct an investigation.

When firefighters entered the home, they found the person dead, Poudre Fire Authority said.

The Poudre Fire Authority and Fort Collins Police Services are working together to determine a cause of the fire.

The Larimer County Coroner's Office will release the identity of the person who died and the cause and manner of death after the person's emergency contact has been notified, according to the Poudre Fire Authority.
