Deposit man sentenced for possession of child porn

DELHI, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – A Deposit man was sentenced on Monday after previously admitting to possessing child porn.

Delaware County District Attorney Shawn Smith announced that Dimitri Escrich, 35, was sentenced to 10 years of felony probation supervision with sex offender terms and conditions for Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child, a Class E Felony.

Escrich previously admitted that he possessed a video of a child under the age of 16 years old masturbating.

If Escrich violates the terms of his probation, he faces 1 and 1 ⅓ to 4 years in New York State prison. He was also ordered to pay a $1,425 fine.

After the sentencing, the Delaware County Court held a hearing to determine what level sex offender Escrich should be classified as. After the hearing, the Court determined that he should be classified as a Level One sex offender. This means Escrich will be subjected to sex offender registration requirements for the next 20 years.

“This defendant will be closely monitored for the next 10 years by the Delaware County Probation Department, and as a result of his sex offender designation, he will need to comply with SORA registration requirements for the next 20 years,” said Smith.
