WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Four people were hospitalized after a crash near Derby Sunday. It happened after 11 a.m. near East 55th Street and South Rock Road.

When law enforcement arrived on the scene, they found three vehicles involved.

According to Sgt. Joseph Slaughter with the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office, witnesses say two vehicles were stopped at a red light when they were struck by an oncoming vehicle from behind.

Sgt. Slaughter says that four people were transported to the hospital, two with critical injuries and two with serious injuries.

Sedgwick County Dispatch initially told KSN that seven people were injured: two people with critical injuries, four people with serious injuries, and one person with minor injuries.

“At this point, there is no indication of impairment, so the accident reconstructionists are on scene to see if there is any or just to map movements of the vehicle prior to the accident,” said Slaughter.

Slaughter said that everyone is cooperating with the investigation.
