Several local pairs earn top finishes at state golf amateur mixed team championships
STAFFORD — Kevin and Lisa Webb of Clifton Springs Country Club won the New York State mixed team golf senior title after five playoff holes at Stafford Country Club on Monday. They beat three other pairs in the playoff, including Meredith Hobika of Yahnundasis Golf Club and Luke Hobika of Drumlins Golf Club. Local players Pennie and Jeff Carlo claimed the net title in the senior field.
Another Major Heat Wave to Scorch Central New York Next Week
Get ready to get blasted by scorching temperatures and uncomfortable humidity because some of the hottest temperatures of the summer are around the corner. The National Weather Service confirmed Central New York will bake again with the fourth heat wave of the summer arriving early next week. Currently, they're calling for temperatures to be back in the 90s, courtesy of all the hot air blowing in from the western part of the country.
Update: Flash flood warning for Cortland County until Wednesday night
The National Weather Service issued an updated flash flood warning at 8:12 p.m. on Wednesday in effect until 11:15 p.m. for Cortland County. "At 8:12 p.m., Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly," explains the weather service. "Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas."
