    Crews and neighborhoods hard at work clearing damage from Monday’s storm

    DES MOINES, Iowa — Crews were hard at work Tuesday morning repairing damage to powerlines along Hickman Road between 63rd and 61st Street that partially closed the intersection.

    Monday night’s severe weather caused a swath of damage across the metro.

    Derek Casey, a Des Moines resident whose house was damaged said that the storm moved quickly through his neighborhood.

    “If you paid attention to what they said on the news it hit right when it did and it was all of about three minutes it came up, that tree completely blew off it had to have been 80 miles and hour,” Casey said.

    Crews are still working to restore power to areas of the metro.

    The City of Des Moines has requested the help of the public to report downed trees.

    Downed trees can be reported on the City of Des Moines’ website .
