AMES, Iowa — Sondra Wilson claims that the state denied her Medicaid coverage for her gender reassignment surgery. Wilson doesn’t have a law degree, but is representing herself in this case. The Adel Parks and Recreation is holding a relaxing evening to watch a movie on Friday. The Parks & Rec is inviting people to the Island Park Campground, 2400 Nantucket Road, in Adel this coming Friday as they will be showing the movie Wonka. According to the organization, attendees can bring lawn chairs, blankets, snacks, and refreshments. Adel Parks & Rec will supply the popcorn as the movie will begin shortly after dusk.

WINTERSET, Iowa — It's been one year since former Winterset Chief of Police Ken Burke passed away unexpectedly after serving his community for 20 years. Burke was well-known in the city of over 5,000 residents, and was referred to as the "epitome of police officers" by people who knew him best. Creston police report pair of early Monday morning drug arrests
(Creston) -- A pair of Creston suspects face drug charges following their arrests in separate incidents early Monday morning. The Creston Police Department says 44-year-old Ronnee Colleen Abel of Creston was arrested shortly after 1 a.m. for possession of a controlled substance, non-marijuana, 3rd offense, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Authorities say the arrest occurred in the 500 block of West Adams Street.
