For this Lunar New Year-themed game, the Kraken apparently made a resolution to get off to a faster start. In the first six minutes, they put seven shots on Detroit goalie Alex Lyon.

On a Kailer Yamamoto cross-checking penalty, the Kraken took as many SOG as the Wings (two).

Moritz Seider's center point blast eludes Kraken goalie Joey Daccord, making his 24th start in the last 27 games. 1-0 Detroit at 13:30. Patrick Kane records his 800th NHL assist.

Andre Burakovsky has Seattle's best chance of the period, an open look from the slot. Lyon, who's been the difference in a strong offensive period for the Kraken, makes a big save to keep Detroit in front.

The cross-checks are even a one per team, as Ben Chiarot goes off at 16:37. The Kraken have good zone time and an in-close backhand try by Jordan Eberle - like the one he scored in Boston - but Lyon makes the save.

With five seconds remaining in the penalty, Jared McCann's left circle drive is too hot to handle. The power play goal, McCann's team-leading 23rd, ties the game 1-1 at 18:32.

Seattle outshoots Detroit 15-6 in the period.
