The Lions wouldn't have landed Terrion Arnold last week without getting aggressive. Had they waited until their own pick at No. 29, it sounds like Arnold would be playing for an NFC rival.

A projected top-15 pick, Arnold slid into the 20's when Brad Holmes and the Lions sent No. 29 and a third-rounder to the Cowboys to jump to No. 24 and take the top cornerback on their board. And in doing so, Detroit apparently beat one NFC team to the punch.

A 'high-ranking NFC personnel man' told Walter Football that not only was Arnold the most shocking player to drop in the first round, but that 'his team tried to move up for him, but was beaten to the punch by Detroit.'

Arnold was an absolute steal at No. 24, and the Lions did well to move up five spots for him. Detroit is on the cusp of winning the Super Bowl, and a dynamic cornerback talent like Arnold could put them over the top.

Four NFC teams picked in the first round after Arnold went to the Lions. The Packers took Arizona OT Jordan Morgan No. 25, the Buccaneers took Duke OL Graham Barton No. 26, the Cardinals took Missouri DL Darius Robinson No. 27, and the 49ers took Florida WR Rickey Pearsall No. 31. The Panthers also traded up one spot to No. 32 to take South Carolina WR Xavier Legette.

The Lions loved Arnold from the jump , and didn't miss their chance to go get him.
