Former Michigan basketball standout Tim Hardaway Jr. traded to Detroit Pistons

Tim Hardaway Jr. is coming home — well, to his second home.

The former Michigan basketball star has made a name for himself in the NBA playing for the Dallas Mavericks. The small forward has been in the professional ranks since 2013 when he was a first-round NBA draft pick by the New York Knicks. He had two stints with the Knicks, interrupted by two years with the Atlanta Hawks before ultimately ending up in Dallas for six seasons.

But now he’s on the move and will be playing down the road from where he spent four years.

According to ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, Hardaway was traded to the Detroit Pistons, and will thus take the court less than an hour away from where he played in his college years.

In his 12 seasons, Hardaway has played in 736 games, starting in 345, for an average of 27.3 minutes. Even as a reserve for much of his time, Hardaway has continued to meet or exceed his average of 14 points per game and is continuing to rebound at a clip of 2.9 a game with 1.9 assists a game.
