The Detroit Tigers completed the first half of their 2024 regular season schedule on Thursday, June 27, losing to the Los Angeles Angels 5-0.

For Manager AJ Hinch and the Tigers, the conclusion of the first half of the regular season brought up feelings of frustration as well as a big picture view of a team that showed plenty of promise, and lots of scrappiness, at times.

The Tigers finished the first half of the season with a record of 37-44, fourth place in the American League Central.

Detroit's disappointing finish obscured the fact that it was the ballclub's best record at the halfway point since 2016, as mentioned by reporter Evan Woodbery on X.

It was the Tigers' best record at the halfway point since they finished 43-38 in 2016.

The Tigers were scheduled to take on the Angels at 9:38 p.m. ET on Friday, the second in a four-game set against the Halos.

Kenta Maeda was set to take the mound against Zach Plesac of the Angels, with Reese Olson and Casey Mize in line to start the next two games for Detroit.
