WATCH: Detailed look at Cam Davis’ Titleist winning bag for the Rocket Mortgage Classic

Cam Davis secured an emotional PGA Tour win at the Rocket Mortgage Classic with a bag full of Titleist clubs.

After some near misses and what he feels was an almost total collapse of his game, Davis got back to his best in Detroit.

“It’s been a frustrating position to be in, especially to see the game kind of trending in the wrong direction for a lot of that time, but to kind of pop out of the depths and do this again, it kind of puts a little spark back into things,” Davis said. “I want to be out here, I want to be winning tournaments.

“All these things that come with winning are so much fun because you know you’ve done something great. To do it again, yeah, it feels pretty special now.

“I’ve got two more big goals of finishing high on the FedExCup and also trying to get on that Presidents Cup team.

“Just to know that the good golf is in there and was able to come out this week, I want to just keep that rolling. I’ve still got plenty to play for this year.”

“(I wanted) something that I was actually going to stick to because I’m definitely someone that will start doing something and if it doesn’t feel like it’s helping straight away, it’s very easy to drop it.

“Sticking with the work that I’m doing […] has made a very big impact very quickly.

“I felt a lot better last week even though the score didn’t show it, and to have it turn into this this week is hard to believe really because I was not in a good place two or three weeks ago.”

Davis uses Surefit hosels on his Titleist TSR3 driver and 3-wood, giving him the ability to alter the loft and launch of those clubs.

He uses a Titleist T100 3-iron as his long iron while the rest of his irons are from the Titleist 620 Cavity Back range.

Davis uses the tour favourite Titleist Vokey Design SM10 wedges and a WedgeWorks 60 degree.

Titleist Brand Ambassador Davis played his final two holes in 1 under par – getting his Pro V1 golf ball up-and-down on No 17 (birdie) and 18 (par) – to win by one shot at Detroit Golf Club.

Playing with a full bag of Titleist equipment, Davis gained more than eight shots on the field tee-to-green (+8.674/4th), with more than seven of them coming on approach shots (+4.352/12th) and around the green (+3.052/9th).

He gained over three more strokes on the green (3.677/19th), using a Scotty Cameron TourType Special Select Masterful tour prototype putter that he put in play for the first time at the Travelers Championship.

“The Pro V1 was the first high-quality ball that I ever used. I mean, after I got through the stage of just being happy to find a good quality ball in the trees as a junior, this is the first ball that I really kind of started using.

“I used it because Adam Scott was the guy when I was growing up (in Australia), and he was a Titleist guy. But ever since then, it’s just been the feel and the flight – it’s just been what I’ve been used to ever since, and I love it.

“[The consistency] is through the bag, from the feel of striking a putt out of the middle, to spin on the wedges, to being able to control your ball flight and distance with the irons, all the way up to getting the most reliable ball flight out of your driver to keep the ball in play. I mean, you’re hitting it on every shot, so you want it to be reliable on each shot.”
