Founded in 1955, the Rasmuson Foundation works hard to improve the lives of Alaskans through grant programs and initiatives that people can rely on. The foundation invites applications for its Legacy Grants program. The program provides grants of more than $250,000 for capital projects, programs of strategic importance, and innovative solutions to issues of community or statewide importance. Examples of projects include construction, renovation, and furnishings; large-scale creative works; buildings, equipment, and vehicles; historic preservation; pilot projects or program expansion; and some types of match funding. Labor, shipping, installation, pre-development, and other costs should be included in project proposal budgets, to give a clear picture of the project scope. The foundation generally does not fund projects associated with core government functions such as roads, utilities, and public safety, K-12 education, deficits or debt reduction, endowments or scholarships, fundraising events or sponsorships, and reimbursement for items already purchased.

The Ford and Andrew W. Mellon foundations have announced the 2024 cohort of Disability Futures Fellows. Launched in 2020 and administered by United States Artists, the program aims to increase the visibility of disabled creative practitioners across disciplines and geography and elevate their voices individually and collectively. Twenty artists were selected to receive unrestricted grants of $50,000 each, totaling $1 million for the cohort.
