Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell.

Detroit Lions wideout Jameson Williams threw up after hauling in a touchdown reception during practice on Wednesday.

Head coach Dan Campbell said that as long as the 23-year-old keeps producing on the field, any repeats of Wednesday's actions are alright with him.

Campbell has gained a reputation as one of the more eccentric head coaches in the NFL since taking over in Detroit ahead of the 2021 season, so his unusual words aren't a surprise.

The former tight end told the "Pardon My Take" podcast last year that he'd wanted the team to have a pet lion since he was hired. Campbell added that team owner Sheila Ford Hamp was okay with the proposal, but NFL officials weren't keen on the idea.

Given the immense pressure of being a big-time athlete and often intense physical toll that a single play can take on the player's body, it's not uncommon to see someone vomit on their respective field.

At least for Williams, his incident didn't come in the middle of a game, as was the case with Purdue safety Chris Jefferson following a 72-yard pick-six in 2022 and when Kansas City Royals reliever Amir Garrett lost his lunch on the mound in 2023.

As for Williams, Campbell has spoken highly of the 2022 first-round pick all offseason, saying in May that he was the most improved player in the spring.

The Alabama product had 24 receptions for 354 yards and two touchdowns on 42 targets across 12 regular-season games in 2023. Williams finished the winter strong, adding six catches for 79 yards and one score in three playoff games as the Lions made a surprising run to the NFC Championship Game.
