The Detroit Lions are making a new addition to their preseason broadcast team this year, and it's someone fans know well.

According to the team , former Lions wide receiver Golden Tate will join play-by-play announcer Jason Ross Jr. in the broadcast booth for the team's preseason slate as an analyst. The pair will also be joined by sideline reporter, Dannie Rogers.

"When I signed with the Lions 10 years ago, I remember being impressed with the vision of the organization, and now I'm blown away by it," Tate said . "I'm grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the preseason broadcasts with Jason and Dannie to tell the stories of this Super Bowl-caliber group and share my experiences with the fans."

"We're thrilled to welcome Golden Tate to our talented crew," Detroit Lions Director of Broadcasting Carl Moll said. "His impressive experience as a player, combined with his passion for the game, will undoubtedly contribute to creating amazing game broadcasts as we head into another exciting season, alongside Jason and Dannie."

Tate will be on the call for all three of the Lions' preseason contests, a slate that includes matchups against the New York Giants (Aug. 8), the Kansas City Chiefs (Aug. 17) and the Pittsburgh Steelers (Aug. 24).

Tate spent four-plus seasons with the Lions from 2015-2018 before he was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles during the 2018 campaign. He had quite the productive run with Detroit, tallying 1,000 yards three times, including a 2014 campaign that saw him record a career-best 1,331 yards and a Pro Bowl nod.

Tate never saw the same success after being traded, or at any other point in his career, for that matter. On top of his stints with the Lions and Eagles, Tate also played for the Seattle Seahawks and Giants. He last played in the NFL in 2020.
