Alex Anzalone is one of the unsung heroes of the Detroit Lions' defense.
Now heading into his eighth season in the National Football League after four of them with the Saints and three of them with the Lions, Anzalone sounded more confident than ever in an interview with the NFL Network's Steve Wyche and Cynthia Frelund.
Anzalone revealed that he believes the ceiling is much higher for what defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn's unit can become this season as Dan Campbell and company chase the franchise's elusive first Super Bowl win.

"Well I think there's definitely going to be improvement," Anzalone said.
"I think there's going to be, you know in all our statistics it's going to be way better. Um, to put a ceiling on it, it's kind of hard to put your finger on where it really could be, but I know have a lot of faith and confidence in the guys we have."
Anzalone said that all the holes the team once had are now filled by "guys with veteran experience," adding that rookie cornerback Terrion Arnold has competed hard and challenged receivers during camp, mentioning his name as an example of "what the Lions have been missing."
