One of the UDFA's that the Detroit Lions have seemingly liked for a long time is Fresno State safety Morice Norris. The Lions attended his pro day and took him out to dinner afterwards ad then wound up signing him after the season. He almost felt like a hidden gem that only the Lions know about.
He's been good during camp, but on Monday he had one hell of day against the New York Giants in joint practices. Including this very violent hit on Eric Gray that cause Gray's helmet to fly off.
Dan Campbell and Aaron Glenn have preached controlled violence for a while now and tuff like this is what they're looking for. That's not all Norris did on Monday though. He had also logged a pass breakup and a sack on a safety blitz per Justin Rogers of Detroit Football Network.
Norris is a guy that has a shot to make the Lions 53-man roster due to his versatility and athleticism. Norris can play both safety and cornerback and that works for a secondary that's been planning to do a lot of maneuvering this season per Dan Campbell.
Even if the Lions don't add him to their main roster, he is someone that is a shoe in for a practice squad spot if he were to clear waivers. The Lions may have found something here with Norris.
