NFL Hits Detroit Lions, New York Giants With Massive Fines for Training Camp Conduct

A handful of videos have been spread across social media timelines over the past few days, featuring brutal fights and brawls between players at the Detroit Lions’ and New York Giants’ joint practices in training camp.
While fans may enjoy the entertainment, and appreciate the competitive fire that their favorite players are displaying, the NFL apparently doesn't feel the same.
On Wednesday morning, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the league is hitting both the Lions and the Giants with substantial fines for their conduct in these joint practices, stemming from the two separate incidents.
Both teams are being fined $200,000 because of the fights, according to Schefter.

Schefter reports that all NFL teams were sent a memo from the league before the season that "fighting and unprofessional conduct" would not be tolerated this year during training camp and joint practices. This fine certainly shows that they're backing up their word.
We will continue to see joint practices from a number of teams this month as everyone tries to knock the rust off and prepare for the upcoming season. We will see if the example made of the Giants and Lions is enough to keep other teams and players from getting into it on the field.
If not, there could be a lot more money going into the league's pocket before all is said and done.
