Chuck Zimmerman of Hilton set a new state record for longnose gar on June 21, 2024. Using a topwater swimbait, Zimmerman reeled in a 15-pound, 14-ounce longnose gar from Butterfield Lake in Jefferson County. The record-breaking catch surpassed the previous state record longnose gar, caught from Lake Champlain in 2018, by one pound and four ounces.
Gas prices go down two cents from last week in Watertown
WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWTI) – Gas prices nudged down by two cents in Watertown from last week according to AAA of Western and Central New York. The organization released its weekly check on the average cost of a gallon of gas for the Western and Central New York region. The average cost of a gallon of gas in the City of Watertown is $3.64. However, Ithaca and Rome share the title of having the highest gas price across the region at $3.67.
