San Dimas Sword Rampage: One Dead, Another Injured – Community in Shock (video)
A sword attack occurred in San Dimas, resulting in one death and one injury. The incident shocked the neighborhood and raised many questions among the residents. Authorities received a call around 3:30 PM reporting a rescue situation on Huntington Avenue, just north of Cienega. Upon arrival, deputies found a woman suffering from numerous cuts and lacerations. She directed them to a nearby residence where another woman was found with similar injuries and was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Pomona police arrest two offenders in separate incidents involving drugs and firearms
POMONA, California — Pomona police arrested two individuals in separate incidents involving drugs and firearms on July 22 and 23. On Monday, July 22, Special Investigation Unit (SIU) officers attempted to stop a known offender on active Post Release Community Supervision in a high-narcotic area. The offender did not comply, leading to a pursuit. During the chase, officers observed the driver throw an object out of the window, which was later found to be a large bag containing drug paraphernalia. The offender was subsequently arrested and booked at Pomona City Jail, according to the Pomona Police Department.

Claremont Police Department officers pulled over Pomona resident Alexis Mendoza, 26, along the 500 block of Towne Avenue at 12:22 a.m. for a vehicle code violation. Police said he displayed symptoms of alcohol impairment and conducted field sobriety tests. Mendoza was subsequently arrested for misdemeanor driving under the influence. A records check then revealed he had a misdemeanor warrant from San Bernardino County, and had been driving on a suspended license, which resulted in police adding misdemeanor driving with a suspended license to his charges. Mendoza was taken to CPD to be booked and to provide a chemical sample. After detoxing, he was released with a citation to appear at Pomona Superior Court.

LA County approves $20,000 reward to find killers who beat Marine to death
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved a $20,000 reward for any information that helps detectives find the men who brutally beat a Marine and the driver who ran him over in Bellflower. The vicious assault happened on May 28 at about 2:02 a.m. when multiple men started beating 42-year-old Peter Chounthala near Virginia Avenue and Artesia Boulevard, according to the Board. After the brutal beating, he collapsed in the middle of the street before a driver ran him over. Both the assailants and the driver left the scene before police arrived. Detectives from the LA County Sheriff's Department described the car that ran over Chounthala as a dark-colored, four-door sedan resembling a 2021-2023 Kia K5.The active-duty Marine died from his injuries. LA County Supervisors said Chounthala suffered wounds during his tours in Afghanistan and with multiple Marine Expeditionary Units.He leaves behind a 3-year-old boy, a wife and two younger sisters.
